Can Sculptures Be Displayed Outside?
Judge for Yourself
The goose sculpture at left was created in 1916 and has been outside for four winters. It is in a location that is protected from the west winds but is not covered. The wood is now weathered to gray in many areas. I have lightly hand sanded and applied additional polyeurethane finish twice. Some addition glue was added on the head in 2018. This photo was taken in March of 2021.
The Heron on right was created in February 2020 and has been outside since March 2020. It is completely exposed to the rain and wind from all directions and is about 20 feed above Oyster Bay in Bremerton WA. This photo was taken in March of 2021.
